COMPARISON BETWEEN EFFECT OF NILOTINIB AND TENOFOVIR ON EXPERIMENTALLY-INDUCED COLON CANCER IN RATS

Colon cancer (CC) incidence has been increasing globally. It is the 7th most common cancer in Egypt. Experimentally-induced CC model was used to investigate the action of different commercially used drugs. Dietary factors have been related to increased colon cancer incidence especially red meat and low fiber diet. In our study, nilotinib a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used for treating chronic myeloid leukemia and tenofovir an anti-HIV drug were used. Histopathological changes were used to ensure colon cancer induction. Our results showed an inhibitory effect of tenofovir and nilotinib towards CC in rats.
