Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common gynecologic condition in women of reproductive age. It constitutes one of the commonest causes of female infertility. Aim of the study: To test the correlation between serum anti- Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels and ovarian ultrasonographic changes, hirsutism, acne and alopecia in PCOS patients. Patients and Methods: Several clinical and ultrasonographic parameters have been measured in PCOS, oligo/amenorrhea as well as normal women. In addition, serum level of AMH and sex hormones have also been measured and compared in these groups. Results: AMH levels positively correlated with hirsutism score, follicle number, ovarian volume, LH, LH/FSH ratio and free testosterone levels. Conclusion: The present work confirms the value of AMH measurement as a valuable tool in PCOS management. Also the cardinal features of PCOS, including hyperandrogenism and oligoanovulation, are confirmed.
