Background: Pesticides occupy a rather unique position among many chemicals that man encounters daily, in that they are deliberately added to the environment for the purpose of pest control in all agricultural programs. Aim of the study: To investigate the protective effect of vitamin E on fetal rat kidney after mother exposure to deltamethrin insecticide. Material and Methods: 36 virgin female albino rats weighing 150-200 grams were used. Once pregnancy confirmed, animals were randomly assigned into 4 groups (control, vitamin E treated, deltamethrin treated and deltamethrin & vitamin E treated group). Treatment was administered daily from the day 6 through day 15 of gestation. The animals were sacrificed on gestational day 20. Fetuses examined for histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations of the fetal kidneys. Results and Conclusions: Results showed that deltamethrin affect fetal kidneys in the form of acute tubular necrosis, and vitamin E ameliorate the deleterious effects of deltamethrin on fetal kideny
