To evaluate the taxonomic value of antennal sensilla of Bactrocera oleae (Rossi, 1790), the present study focused on studying the type, morphology and distribution of the various antennal sensilla of adult olive fruit fly. This study helps towards accurate identification and subsequently planning effective control strategy. With scanning electron microscopy technique, numerous types of sensilla have been recorded, namely, chaetica sensilla, trichoid sensilla (Types I & II), basiconic sensilla (Types I & II) and campaniform sensilla. The differences in types, morphology and distribution of antennae between male and female were recorded.
